Mist and water fall (2)
I prefer this format to the previous - unusually as landscapes usually work when in landscape orientation (unsurprisingly).Photo Copyright David Morgan, 2006

Crack of dawn
It was easy for me as I was still jet-lagged - less so for Becca (opposite) who gradually became multi-syllabic as the morning wore on. The weather had been atrocious (see below) - but the rain eased up for one day while we were in Yosemite. There were plenty of stars out as we dragged ourselves out of the cabin at 06:30 - heading for a fantastic vantage point looking eastwards up Yosemite valley. The lighting was tricky - with a very bright sky and deep shade in the valley itself. In the end a combination of ND grads and blue grad filters achieved the follwing shots.
I'll post Becca's b&w shots - if she sends me some - later on.

Stage 2 complete
This weekend saw our users completely re-occupy the 2nd floor in 151 Buckingham Palace Road. This effectively ends Stage 2 of the programme. We moved about 230 people this weekend (including the 34 that nobody told us about) - no problems, no snags and no whinges (so far).Next weekend we decant a few (actually 60) people off the 1st floor and we then start all over again!
The programme is recognised as a huge success within UK Government - I'll post a link to an OGC case study on the programme later.

Carrot art
If you've been following the comments on the other postings - you'll know there's been some banter between me and this chap called Peter. Peter Moore was my co-exhibitor at the Summer 2005 exhibition - his favourite work was "Carrots" - shown opposite.I'm sure Peter would like to know what you think of his work - comment here or send me an e-mail and I'll forward them on.

Sara goes over the top!
I promised you some pictures from the California trip. This one - featuring Sara in classic snow plough - is from one of the glorious days we had at the end of the holiday at Squaw Valley in Tahoe. Glorious sunshine, but not so glorious for Sara as there were 40mph winds and she wiped-out just over the lip.....For those interested, this was taken with my Fuji s7000 digital camera. You'll have to wait for the other photos as they were taken with my Canon 50e and I still have to finish the last roll and take them all to be developed.

Sara joins the blog club

Got to get my MOTO working
Working at home today - trying to get my head around MOTOs. They're a bit like a property lease - but specifically designed for Government Department to Government Department property arrangements. Not generally renowned for my skill, expertise and interest in all-things-legal, so a bit of struggle.PS: Check out the wacky lampshade behind my left ear......

New space for the next batch
Some of you will know that I'm Programme Director of the "2 Roof" programme at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the UK. This programme is a major real estate rationalisation programme to substantially reduce the cost of accommodation to the department and to introduce a degree of flexible desking.Anyway, this weekend saw us move about 170 people into their newly refurbished office accommodation. The space looks fantastic but the users generally have difficulty adjusting to the new working environment - i.e. not having their own desk and having to share communal facilities.
We've got to do another 230 people next weekend - hopefully everything will go as smoothly as this weekend. Then what? Stage 3 of the programme - refurbishing the final floor and moving users into that one - scheduled for late March 2006.

....by the way
The reason we were in California was to see my sister (50 on the 28th), family and friends in Fremont, Santa Clarita and Folsom. Bit of a whirlwind tour - especially as we took in Yosemite and Tahoe too. The weather (apart from 3 days fantastic skiing in Tahoe) was atrocious.....it even bucketed with rain in southern California too.Check out forthcoming posts - I'll upload one or two of the very limited number of photos I took. Photographer's nightmare - rain, fog and bad light....

Jet lagged and fed-up with chores....
Ok, so everybody said it was never a good idea to go back to work the day after flying in from San Franciso. Little did we know that we'd still be surrounded by suitcases and dirty laundry a week later! Stone me - we've got to start work all over again tomorrow.
